Katya Echazarreta, First Mexican-Born Woman in Space, to Speak, Monday at 2

September 27, 2024 / Events

September 15 through October 15 is National Hispanic American Heritage Month. This year’s theme is Pioneers for Change: Shaping the Future Together. The theme calls on all of us to recognize and acknowledge the spirit of innovation, resilience and unity that define the Hispanic, Latino, Latina and Latinx experience in America.

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion invites the NOVA community to a virtual conversation featuring Katya Echazarreta, the first Mexican-born woman to travel to space. The webinar will be held on Monday, September 30, from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. and will be moderated by Dr. Nathan Carter.  A recording of the event will be available on the DEI Sharepoint site. Closed captioning is available.

This conversation-based webinar is made possible through the generous support of Micron, in partnership with the NOVA Educational Foundation, to bring influential STEM pioneers and speakers to the NOVA community in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month.
