Call for Faculty Volunteers: Ad Hoc Appointment Advisory Committee

September 30, 2024 / Faculty/Staff Highlights

It is the time of year when the various segments of the college faculty elect their members as representatives on the ad hoc college committee: The Ad Hoc Appointment Advisory Committee.

The Ad Hoc Appointment Advisory Committee provides information and advice for the President’s consideration on all faculty members eligible for three- and five-year appointments.

We request volunteers to slate a ballot of teaching faculty, counselors and librarians to be elected to serve on the Ad Hoc Appointment Advisory Committee. Nominations are now open through midnight on Monday, October 7. The teaching and professional faculty will vote for their representatives on the committee. Voting will be open from Wednesday, October 9 through Monday, October 14.  We need THREE teaching faculty and ONE professional faculty on the committee.

The work of the committee will occur primarily between November 15, 2024 and January 10, 2025 but may extend to January 31, 2025. The College is on holiday for the period of December 24, 2024 through January 2, 2025, during which time the committee would not meet.

To volunteer for this committee, you should be a full-time teaching or professional faculty:

  • who is in a three- or five-year appointment AND
  • who is NOT under review for a three- or five-year appointment AND
  • who is willing to commit to this process between November 1 and January 31.

This will be a hard-working committee. According to VCCS policy, every faculty member who is eligible for a three- or five-year appointment must have their information reviewed by this committee after evaluation by the supervising dean.

For more information on this process and the VCCS policy, please review section 3.4.0.4 of the VCCS Policy Manual.

To volunteer, please complete the self-nomination form located here.
