CATE Presents Fall “AI & Teaching” Interactive Workshop Schedule

The Center for the Advancement of Teaching Excellence (CATE) will host several interactive AI professional development workshops this fall. Click here to sign up.

Recent discussions across the college highlight the need for cross-discipline professional development and conversation that address AI’s impact on academic integrity, teaching strategies and student support.

CATE invites all NOVA faculty to participate in interactive AI-focused professional development this fall.

  1. Thursdays: Oct. 3; Oct. 17; Oct. 24; Nov. 7; and Dec. 5, at 4 p.m.: “ACUE AI Series ‘Faculty Chats’” ACUE is a series of four, high-quality Quick Study courses about teaching with AI. ACUE’s AI Series is free to NOVA employees through December. Participants in the “Faculty Chats” will complete the same ACUE Quick Study course on their own and then meet together via Zoom every two to three weeks to discuss how to apply that week’s lesson to our actual teaching.

  2. Friday, November 1, 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.: “Leveraging AI from the Classroom to the Office” Zoom Workshop with Dr. Michelle Baragona and Dr. Carlena Benjamin, from Northeast Mississippi Community College.

  3. Friday, December 6, 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.: Interactive Packback Workshop. Learn how to use Packback, an AI tool that facilitates meaningful peer-to-peer interaction in Canvas Discussion.
