First Fall History Reading Group to Meet October 18

October 2, 2024 / Events

The History Reading Group is an informal group of faculty and staff who read and discuss recent books, especially works of history by women of color. The point is twofold:

  1. To foreground recent work of women of color, so that we may all learn and benefit from their scholarly insights
  2. To discuss how their work might help improve classroom teaching and broader efforts to promote diversity, equity and inclusion at NOVA

Anyone at NOVA who reads the book to be discussed, faculty and staff, is welcome to participate. The first meeting will take place on Friday, October 18, at 11 a.m., Annandale Campus (CN-102). We will be discussing Margaret Burnham’s By Hands Now Known: Jim Crow’s Legal Executioners. Please make sure you have read the book prior to the meeting. We look forward to a great conversation!
