New Police Sergeant Appointed to Manassas Campus

Please join us in congratulating Officer Steven Atkins on his promotion to police sergeant of the Manassas Campus. Effective September 25, Sergeant Atkins will oversee police operations at the Manassas Campus, ensuring a safe and secure environment for all students, faculty and staff.

Sergeant Atkins brings a wealth of policing experience to this position, having dedicated more than 25 years to the Fairfax County Police Department. Throughout his career with Fairfax County Police, he has excelled in various roles, including serving as a School Resource Officer, where he developed strong relationships with students and faculty and fostered a sense of community.

Since joining the NOVA Police in August 2022, Sergeant Atkins has served as a patrol officer at the Annandale Campus, where he quickly became known for his professionalism and dedication. His keen understanding of campus safety and his ability to effectively communicate with diverse groups will be instrumental as he transitions into this supervisory role.

In his new position, Sergeant Atkins is eager to build on existing safety initiatives, collaborate with campus stakeholders and implement new strategies to enhance the overall safety of the Manassas Campus community.
