OWMH Fall Mental Health Vendor Fairs Continue Wednesday
In April 2024, the Office of Wellness and Mental Health (OWMH) hosted its inaugural Mental Health Provider Database (MHPD) Vendor Fair on all six campuses. The Vendor fairs were a success, and we are excited to host them once again, at each campus this month. Did you know that the OWMH maintains a database with over 200 licensed and certified wellness and mental health providers? The vendor fair provides an opportunity for registered vendors to come to campus, engage with students, faculty and staff, share information about their services and other valuable resources pertaining to accessing care. Invited vendors have practices that are geographically located near all six of our campuses and some offer virtual services for inclusion of our NOVA online students as well.
October is known for many wellness and mental health initiatives such as Emotional Wellness Month, Health Literacy Month, ADHD Awareness Month, Depression Awareness Month, Domestic Violence Month and Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness plus many more! This is a great way to kick off, highlight and discuss these various important wellness and mental health challenges that we all can potentially face. Knowing where to get connected to support is how we add to the goal of cultivating a culture of care and reduce the stigma associated with seeking wellness and mental health support.
The first week of October is Mental Illness Awareness Week, and October 10 is World Mental Health Day! In honor of this, we ask that you (1) share this announcement or flyer with at least three other individuals and (2) stop by your campus vendor fair and collect valuable information from our vendors!
Please email wellness@nvcc.edu if additional information is needed.
