Becca Kallem Exhibition at LO’s Waddell Gallery thru Nov. 8

The Waddell Art Gallery on NOVA’s Loudoun Campus is excited to announce Becca Kallem’s solo exhibition Recent Paintings. The show, which opened Wednesday, October 16, will be on display until Friday, November 8.

Kallem (b. 1980) is a Virginia-based artist and educator. Her recent work is inspired by nature and the beauty of imperfection. When she found a dead butterfly with a damaged wing, she painted an abstracted “portrait” of it. She then painted a series of moths and butterflies against invented backgrounds. Kallem is interested in the beauty and form of these creatures, as well as the theme of transformation that they often represent. The oil paintings are small-scale and intimate, and they combine observation, abstraction and imagination.
