Next ‘Leadership for All’ Lunch and Learn Webinar, Oct. 23 at 1!

HR Organizational Learning and Development, in collaboration with VP John Ferrari, Provost Julie Leidig (LO), and Provost Molly Lynch (MA), is excited to continue our “Leadership for All” Webinar Series. Our next session will provide an overview of governance structures and their vital role in our institution’s decision-making processes.

Our guest speakers, Jose Dimas and Amanda Wilder, will provide a general overview of concepts of governance and shared governance, emphasizing their importance in shaping our college operations. This session will highlight some specific governance structure, including the various committees and councils, and how shared governance is practically implemented. The session will conclude with a Q&A session to address questions. We look forward to your participation!

NOVA’s Office of Government Affairs: Federal, State and Local Outreach
Wednesday, October 23
from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. 
Presented by Amanda Wilder, Associate Director of Federal Relations and Jose Dimas, Director of Government Affairs Continuing our “Leadership for All” series, this session will offer an overview of the NOVA Office of Government Affairs and the critical role it serves in advancing the college’s agenda at the federal, state, and local levels. The Office of Government Affairs acts as the liaison to federal, state, and local government officials, ensuring our voice is heard on vital educational interests. The office in turn keeps the college community up-to-date on recent legislation and issues critical to higher education. The office also coordinates an annual legislative agenda in partnership with the VCCS, and by working directly with elected officials and state/national organizations, advocates on behalf of students, faculty, and administrators. Additionally, the office organizes annual advocacy visits to Richmond and Washington, D.C., and during these visits NOVA students have the opportunity to participate in the legislative process.
