NOVA’s Spring Convening, Faculty Showcase, Winter Faculty Development Conf., Jan. 6 & 7

NOVA’s Center for the Advancement of Teaching Excellence (CATE) invites you to SAVE THE DATE for Spring Convening, Faculty Showcase and the Winter Faculty Development Conference. Spring Convening and the Faculty Showcase will be held virtually on Monday, January 6. The Winter Conference will be held in-person on Tuesday, January 7 at the Ernst Center on the Annandale Campus from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Registration and Proposal Information will be announced in the Daily Flyer.

  • Faculty Spring Convening: Via Zoom, Monday, January 6, from 9 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. 
  • Faculty Showcase: Via Zoom, Monday, January 6, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.
  • Wonder Conference: In-person, Tuesday, January 7, 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Annandale Campus Ernst Center.

The Faculty Showcase, new this year, is a time to showcase recent faculty scholarly and creative work, including sabbatical presentations, research, conference presentations, artist talks, readings from works-in-progress and more! Proposals will open Monday, October 28.

Formerly known as Power Up Your Pedagogy (PUP), the newly renamed WONDER Conference will explore themes of Wisdom, Openness, Novelty, Data, Engagement and Reflection. NOVA faculty and staff are invited to submit proposals for 45-minute sessions that explore one or more aspects of WONDER. Sessions that incorporate college student success data with best practices in your discipline are especially welcome. 

Wonder Conference Timeline:

  • Registration and Proposals open Monday, October 28
  • Proposals due by Monday, November 18
  • Review Process will be completed by Tuesday, November 26
  • Acceptance notifications sent by Wednesday, November 27
  • Website for WONDER (& agenda) posted by December 2
  • To receive lunch, register by Monday, December 16
