Emotional Intelligence Deep Dive, Nov. 8 and 22

October 30, 2024 / HR News/Training

Emotional intelligence (EI) is vital in the workplace as it enhances communication, collaboration and leadership. Employees with high EI can manage their emotions and navigate challenges effectively, leading to improved decision making and stronger relationships. Ultimately, cultivating EI fosters a more positive and productive work environment.

This course is ideal for anyone looking to enhance their emotional intelligence, whether you’re a leader, team member or in a customer-facing role. It’s designed to help you improve self-awareness, manage emotions effectively and build stronger relationships. If you’re seeking personal growth and better social interactions, this training will provide the tools you need to succeed.

While it’s not required to attend both sessions, it is highly recommended. Each session focuses on different key components of Emotional Intelligence—Personal Competency and Social Competency—that, together, offer a comprehensive understanding. Attending both sessions will give you the full benefit of the training, but you’re welcome to join whichever session fits your needs.

Session 1: Personal Competency
Friday, November 8, 9 a.m. until 11 a.m.
Pender 4, 3922 Pender Drive, Suite 121, Fairfax

Join us for the first session of our in-person Emotional Intelligence (EI) training, focusing on Personal Competency. This session will help you build a deeper understanding of your emotions—what drives them, what triggers them and how to effectively manage them. You’ll explore the importance of self-awareness, spending time with your emotions to understand what makes you tick and learning to recognize patterns that influence your responses. By embracing your emotions without fear or judgment, you’ll gain control over emotional “mistakes” and develop resilience in the face of challenges.

We’ll also dive into self-management, which involves managing your emotional responses to situations and people. You’ll learn techniques to prevent “emotional hijacking” and how high self-awareness leads to stronger self-management. With practical tools and interactive exercises, this session will equip you to navigate emotions more effectively, leading to better decision-making, improved relationships and a more balanced emotional life.

Session 2: Social Competency
Friday, November 22, 9 a.m. until 11 a.m.
Pender 4, 3922 Pender Drive, Suite 121, Fairfax

Join us to enhance your ability to navigate social dynamics and cultivate stronger, more productive relationships. Social Competency will focus on developing social awareness and relationship management, key components of Emotional Intelligence (EI). In this session, you’ll learn how to sharpen your active listening and observation skills, stay present in conversations and look outward to better understand and appreciate others. These skills are crucial for building meaningful connections and resolving conflicts before they escalate.

Strong social competency builds on the personal skills of self-awareness, self-management and motivation. You’ll explore how people with high relationship management skills can connect with a diverse range of individuals, even those they might not be fond of. Through practical exercises and group discussions, you’ll gain insights into how to manage relationships effectively, fostering positive interactions and reducing misunderstandings.
