NOVA Police Host Successful Drug Take-Back Event
On Saturday, October 26, the NOVA Police Department once again joined law enforcement agencies across the country in the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) nationwide Drug Take-Back initiative. This event, which serves as a critical component of the DEA’s ongoing efforts to reduce prescription drug misuse, provided a safe and anonymous way for community members to dispose of unused or expired medications. The event took place at both the Annandale and Woodbridge campuses, where the community was encouraged to bring in unwanted prescriptions to be disposed of properly.
The NOVA Police Department extends its gratitude to all those who participated, helping to ensure that these medications no longer posed a threat to public safety. The collection event was not only about removing potentially dangerous substances from our communities but also about raising awareness of the risks of prescription drug abuse.
Thanks to the efforts of the NOVA community and surrounding areas, approximately 35 pounds of prescription drugs were collected and disposed of properly. This event underscores the importance of community involvement in promoting public health and safety, and NOVA Police remain committed to offering resources and support for ongoing efforts to combat drug abuse and misuse.
