Surplus! What It Is and What It Does for You!
What is Surplus? Surplus at NOVA refers to College property no longer being utilized by a department. NOVA is committed to handling College property in a fiscally responsible and efficient manner while complying with applicable regulations. What it does for you is when a department needs to get rid of surplus items, mainly furniture or equipment, the goal is to sell or repurpose items to recover funds for the College.
Here are a few ways that NOVA recovers funds or repurposes College surplus property:
- Resale at Virginia Dept. of General Services (DGS) facility or State Auction Site
- Recycling through contract recyclers (especially for IT equipment)
- Donation, trade-in or transfer to eligible agencies
- Discard items with no resale value
- Offering good-condition furniture to College departments via NOVAnet Surplus site
If you have items that need to be listed as surplus please use the 105-121 Surplus Request Form or for more information about the process please contact Kraig Burgess: KBurgess@nvcc.edu.
