NOVA Esports Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Series Champs
The NOVA Nighthawks Rainbow Six team competed on November 9 in the Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Series. They opened the round-robin stage with a commanding 7-0 victory over Underdogs but closed the stage with a challenging 1-7 loss to Drexel University, finishing with a 1-1 record. This earned them a spot in the semi-finals against their NJCAAE rival, Lackawanna College. Although the Nighthawks had a slow start and faced match point at 3-6, a strategic timeout helped them regroup. Round by round, they clawed their way back to force overtime and, with momentum on their side, claimed an 8-6 overtime victory, advancing to the finals for a rematch against Drexel.
The finals began with a nail-biting game one, where the Nighthawks carried their momentum forward to edge out an 8-7 overtime win, putting them on tournament point. In game two, they faced Drexel on the same map where they had earlier suffered a 1-7 defeat. Against all odds, the Nighthawks ignited, taking an early 6-4 lead and setting up a match point. Drexel pushed back to make it 6-5, but the Nighthawks clutched a thrilling 2v1 showdown to secure the Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Series championship in style.
