Student Success Fund Moved to Financial Stability and Advocacy

November 22, 2024 / General NOVA News

Effective Friday, November 15, NOVA’s Student Success Fund processing has been moved from the NOVA Foundation to the College’s Office of Financial Stability and Advocacy. The foundation will continue to fund this resource for our students, and has invested in a new digital platform, BEAM, through which students may apply, and applications and payments will be processed.

NOVA’s Student Success Fund provides financial support to students experiencing an enrollment-threatening financial emergency. The purpose of the Student Success Fund is to help students who have an unforeseen emergency and are unable to come up with the money without the help of additional support and/or resources. These sudden emergencies may prevent students from completing their classes or completing their time here at NOVA.

Applicants who apply for the Student Success Fund will be asked to meet with staff from the Financial Stability and Advocacy Office as part of their application process.

Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for the Student Success Fund, a student must:

  • be registered during the semester in which the fund would apply (credit or non-credit);
  • be able to provide adequate documentation of the emergency; and
  • must have exhausted other resources including community resources and other supports.

Based on emergency need, applicants can be awarded up to $1,000, and can only apply for the Student Success Fund once during the academic year.

Please note that, while this link is now available on the Financial Stability and Advocacy web page, we encourage faculty and staff to refer students to the above link. You may also refer students by emailing the FSA office at financialstability@nvcc.edu. Your referrals are crucial to the success of this initiative!

Thank you for supporting our students!
