Join Leadership for All: NOVA’s Office of Government Affairs, Today at 1

The office of Human Resources Organizational Learning and Development invites you to join us today for Leadership for All: NOVA’s Office of Government Affairs–Federal, State and Local Outreach. This session, presented by Jose Dimas, director of governmental affairs, and Amanda Wilder, associate director of federal relations, is part of our ongoing effort to build transparency and enhance our community’s understanding of how decisions are made at NOVA.

As part of the Leadership for All series, this session will offer a deeper understanding into how leadership at NOVA extends beyond the classroom and into the halls of government. Attendees will hear directly from Jose Dimas and Amanda Wilder as they provide an overview of the critical work done by NOVA’s Office of Government Affairs in advancing the college’s agenda at the federal, state and local levels.

The Office of Government Affairs plays a pivotal role in liaising with federal, state and local government officials, ensuring that NOVA’s voice is heard on key educational issues. It also keeps the college community informed about important legislation and issues impacting higher education. Additionally, the office coordinates an annual legislative agenda in collaboration with the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) and works directly with elected officials and state/national organizations to advocate for students, faculty and administrators. As part of its advocacy efforts, the office organizes annual visits to Richmond and Washington, D.C., where NOVA students have the opportunity to participate in the legislative process. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions during the Q&A session following this Zoom presentation.
