NOVA Receives 2024 ICF Virginia Coaching Excellence Award!
We are thrilled to announce that Northern Virginia Community College has been recognized with the prestigious 2024 ICF Virginia Coaching Excellence Award in the Emerging Organization category. This honor celebrates the successful pilot coaching initiative of NOVA’s Office of Employee Wellness and Wellbeing (OEWW). This initiative promoted the value of coaching, fostered community, empowered employees and supported workforce development through collaborative partnerships.
In partnership with ICF Virginia’s Ignite program, NOVA’s Office of Employee Wellness and Wellbeing (OEWW) provided free individualized coaching sessions to 85 employees across all levels. The overwhelmingly positive feedback from participants highlights how coaching empowered them to achieve professional and wellness goals, enhance focus and efficiency and inspire greater confidence in their roles. Moreover, this NOVA/ICF collaboration—one of several initiatives led by NOVA’s OEWW—provided employees with valuable insights and strategies. Participants reported that these efforts created a ripple effect, positively impacting students’ experiences and success.
“We are extremely grateful for this opportunity to work with ICF to expose more higher education professionals (in our case, a group of faculty/staff and administrators across the college) to the transformative potential of coaching,” said Dr. Dahlia Henry-Tett, NOVA’s chief wellness officer. “The initiative has demonstrated tremendous value in supporting our goal of improving the employee experience through fostering a more dynamic and supportive workplace culture.” Dr. Henry-Tett also expressed appreciation colleagues who participated for their willingness to explore the pivotal potential of coaching.
This award underscores NOVA’s dedication to equity, innovation and excellence in professional development. NOVA is exploring ways to extend and continue this pilot program to further support employee development and workplace wellness.
