Nighthawks’ League of Legends Wins NJCAAE Regional Championship, Advances to Nationals

December 10, 2024 / ICYMI (In Case You Missed It)

On December 2, NOVA Nighthawks League of Legends Varsity esports team faced off against rivals Wake Tech Community College in the NJCAAE East Regional Finals. After a slow start, losing the first match, the Varsity team didn’t look back and won the next three consecutive games to claim the East Regional Championship. This win directly placed the Varsity team in the NJCAAE National Championship Playoffs, seeded into the semi-finals. Due to NJCAAE bracket structure on regular season results, the Nighthawks faced Wake Tech Community College yet again on Monday, December 9, at 8 p.m.

The NOVA Nighthawks League of Legends JV team has also advanced to the semi-finals of the Tier-3 Open Series NJCAAE Tournament, defeating Moberly Area Community College in a dominant 3-0 fashion, and defeating North Iowa Area Community College in a lopsided 3-0 series as well. JV faced SUNY Herkimer County Community College in a tough semi-final matchup on Monday, December 9, at 8 p.m.

The playoff success thus far reflects a long, difficult semester of hard work for the League of Legends teams, with many standout players performing during key moments in their respective series. Congrats to our esports teams! #LetsGoNighhawks
