Revised Semester Look Back Report

January 23, 2025 / General NOVA News

One of the deliverables identified in the report out from the fall semester listening sessions was the creation of a new report we’re calling the Semester Look Back. This report analyzes the previous semester’s enrollment.

The Office of Strategic Insights completed this new report, which we shared in The Daily Flyer last week. Please see this revised version, which includes a Data Notes section to help put the numbers in context. In addition, this version excludes Dual Enrollment students. The Fall 2024 Semester Look Back [Revised] is being shared with you today in keeping with the timeline established in the listening session report out. It provides a comprehensive look at fall 2024 enrollment in every modality, in every discipline and at every location, including information on the sections offered and canceled; section-level enrollments; and more.

Provosts and academic deans will hold meetings with the teaching faculty this semester to review the results of the Fall 2024 Semester Look Back and to discuss how it will inform the development of the fall 2025 schedule.

In addition, NOVA has committed to surveying current students on the course modalities in which they intend to enroll in fall 2025. OSI is developing this survey, and it will be distributed to students via email in February. The results of the modality survey will be published to The Daily Flyer and will also inform the development of the fall 2025 schedule.

The provosts/academic deans’ formal guidelines on the development of the fall 2025 schedule will be published to the campuses and shared with Administrative Council, College Senate and each campus forum council to ensure transparent and full dissemination of this information.

I thank the Office of Strategic Insights for their diligence in developing the new Semester Look Back report, with special appreciation to Director of Data Analytics Melanie Jenkins and Data Visualization Lead John Shea for their work on the report.

Kind regards, Anne
