Our NOVA Recreation Department strives to create an inclusive environment dedicated to offering active and wellness opportunities to our college community. With this goal in mind, we’re excited to share some of our Rec on Canvas virtual offerings for spring 2025 with faculty and staff. Soulful Stretch
Soulful Stretching is a holistic class designed to help participants connect with their mind, body, and spirit. Each session includes focused breathwork, yoga/stretching, and meditation to promote relaxation, flexibility, and inner peace.

Wellness Webinars ( Personal Resilience and Impactful Leadership)
This series will dive into easy-to-use tools for building resilience and leading authentically. It’ll mix up the latest research on brain science to boost performance and learning, plus mindfulness techniques that calm the nervous system and help you stay clear-headed when things get tough.

Mind/Body
This session will integrate Yoga and Meditation, aiming to empower participants in enhancing both their physical and mental fitness. The focus is on fostering positivity, confidence, and motivation. The session is designed to alleviate anxiety and boost self-esteem, guiding individuals to connect with themselves and the Universe. All sessions are dedicated to nurturing the mind, body, and spirit.

Talk Tuesday
These are drop-in sessions where Rec on Canvas leaders discuss fitness and wellness information and how it impacts our lives. Topics ranges from nutrition, weightlifting, at home exercises, health tips etc.

Fitness Fridays
It’s a spontaneous fitness session where participants join not knowing what activities will take place. These activities are inclusive and are modified to accommodate participants attending the session. Activities may include deck of cards training, core on the floor and or cardio blast.
