Federal Student Aid is NOT Frozen!
Despite the rumors, federal student aid is not frozen. The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) has confirmed that the temporary pause on federal funding does not impact assistance received directly by individuals. This includes all Title IV financial aid funds provided to individual students.
As indicated on the federal student aid website, “Direct Loans, Pell Grants and other federal student aid funds that are provided to individual students are not impacted by the Jan. 27, 2025, guidance temporarily pausing federal financial assistance programs. We continue to award and disburse federal student aid.”
The White House has also clarified that programs including Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Title IV Higher Education assistance and Veteran’s and GI bill benefits among others, would not be affected by the recent pause on federal funding.
Any further questions regarding financial aid, should be directed to the Financial Aid Office.
