IPEDS Data Feedback Report
The Department of Education collects data through the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) from all United States postsecondary education institutions eligible to receive Title IV funding.
Why it matters: Data collected are used for federal and state policy analysis and policymaking. The IPEDS Data Feedback Report serves as a useful resource for college executives and other stakeholders to compare with peers (page 2 of the report) and make quality improvements.
What it says: The latest 2024 report shows where NOVA has outperformed its peers.
1. NOVA enrolls drastically more full- and part-time students in 12 months than its peers’ median in every enrollment status (Figure 2).
2. NOVA’s full-time retention and graduation rates are higher than the medians of its peer institutions by race/ethnicity and Pell grants and loans (Figures 14, 15, 16, 17, 18).
3. NOVA offers a better average salary on almost every rank for 9-month, full-time, non-medical instructional staff than its peers’ median (Figure 26).
It also reveals areas of opportunity for NOVA.
1. NOVA enrolls fewer distance education students in general than its peers (Figure 4).
2. NOVA’s transfer-out rate is lower than the median of its peers (15% vs 21%, Figure 15).
3. Tuition and required fees are higher than its peers’ median, mostly because of NOVA’s geographic location.
