CATE discussion on addressing difficult subjects, Feb. 26
The Center for the Advancement of Teaching Excellence (CATE) will host a discussion on effective strategies for teaching difficult subject matter. This event will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 26, at 1 p.m., on the Annandale Campus in the CA-302.
Why it matters: CATE Captain Nathaniel Green will facilitate this opportunity for faculty in different disciplines across the college to share challenges and strategies for addressing difficult subjects in our classrooms—whether that be conversations about race, gender, sexuality, class or other topics that can arise, either expectedly or unexpectedly. This event is open to faculty in any discipline. Whether you have a lot of experience handling subjects like this or not, this will be a chance to collaborate with colleagues in different fields. Come with questions you have, or with strategies you’ve employed (including strategies that didn’t work for you).
What’s next? No registration is necessary. But you are encouraged to reach out to Dr. Green with questions or suggestions for specific topics to address.
