Graduation application countdown – three days to March 1 deadline!

February 26, 2025 / Our Nighthawks

Completion Season is upon us, and we need your support with reminding students that the Spring 2025 Graduation Application Deadline is this Saturday, March 1! Please encourage students you work with to review graduation requirements (for current degrees or stackable credentials) and to keep an eye on the time to apply. Students nearing completion of an associate degree or certificate are encouraged to attend one of our upcoming ADV-200: Destination Graduation Advising Hour sessions (offered by Pathway) or an ADV-200: Transfer Take-Off session.

Why it matters: Students are occasionally surprised to learn they have to apply to graduate. Applying ensures all credits are accounted for and they are ready to walk that stage! Also, every credential earned brings NOVA and the VCCS one step closer to reaching the goal of 300,000 meaningful credentials by 2030, as laid out in the Accelerate Opportunity 2024-2030 Statewide Strategic Plan.

What they learn in ADV-200 courses:

During the ADV-200: Advising Hour, students receive advising support with:

  • accessing and reviewing academic advisement reports;
  • identifying remaining requirements needed to graduate;
  • identifying eligibility for additional credentials (certificates or degrees).

During the ADV-200: Transfer Take-Off session, students will receive support with:

  • reviewing the transfer application process;
  • accessing transfer resources and services;
  • learning tips to ensure a smooth transition from NOVA to a 4-year college or university.

Please direct students to the Events Calendar for session dates and details or send them directly to the Graduation Application Tutorial.
