Microsoft MFA fraud alert changes coming Friday, Feb. 28

February 27, 2025 / Tech Notes & Training

NOVA’s current multi-factor authentication (MFA) setting for fraud alert is being retired on Saturday, March 1, 2025, with Microsoft transitioning to a replacement using a  conditional access policy. The current fraud alert process will stop on Friday, Feb. 28.

When you receive the MFA alert, “Are you trying to sign in?” if  you select “No, it’s not me” the conditional access policy will be triggered and require you to reset your password.

Please remember passwords can only be changed once in a 24-hour period and must meet password complexity requirements. Please visit MFA Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) for additional details on this functional change and on the password complexity policy.

If you have questions, please email the Microsoft 365 Team at Notification-M365Team@nvcc.edu.
