Day 1 of Open Ed Week: Designing courses for student success

February 28, 2025 / Faculty/Staff Highlights

It’s Day 1 of Open Education Week (March 3-7), a global celebration of accessible, inclusive, high-quality education. Open Education empowers learners and educators by removing barriers to knowledge—barriers like cost or lack of accessibility to resources. Learn more by visiting OE Global’s Open Education Week site. Perhaps you will find a session (like Open Education-101) that you can attend live this week. Or maybe you’d be happy simply exploring the assets shared from across the country and around the world during Open Education Week!

Why it matters: Open Education is about creating learning environments where all students can thrive. This session will help you design courses that are both accessible and engaging.

What’s next: At NOVA we are celebrating all month long by highlighting how open education principles enhance instructional design. As part of this, we invite you to join the Instructional Design Bootcamp (March 17-21), where we’ll take a deep dive into designing effective, student-friendly courses. Day 1 of the Bootcamp (March 17) will focus on Canvas for Course Design, exploring key features, Cidi Labs integrations and emerging AI tools to help you build dynamic, accessible learning experiences.

📅 Monday, March 17

⏰ 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

We hope you can join us in our celebration of Open Ed!
