Day 2 of Open Ed Week – building strong course foundations

March 4, 2025 / Faculty/Staff Highlights

It’s Day 2 of Open Education Week (March 3-7), a time to explore how open practices create more inclusive and student-centered learning experiences. Open Educational Resources (OER) provide free, adaptable course materials that support both faculty innovation and student success. Want to learn more about how to find and use OER? Try this OER Starter Kit, which includes very practical tools like worksheets and rubrics to get you started.

We’re celebrating all month long by highlighting how Open Education transforms instructional design. As part of this, our Instructional Design Bootcamp (March 17-21) will take a deep dive into course structure and content design. Day 2 of the Bootcamp (March 18) focuses on Framework Foundations, helping you develop strong course structures with the Excellence in Distance Learning and Teaching (EDLT) framework, clear learning objectives, and OER integration with librarian support.

Why it matters: A well-designed course foundation ensures students have a clear path to success while keeping learning open and accessible.

📅 Tuesday, March 18, 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., 📍Pender 4, Room 121,  Register

We hope you’ll join us as we build the foundation for open, student-centered learning!
