Welcome back for the fall semester at NOVA Alexandria.  Did you know we have a student environmental club?  It’s called the Green Club and we meet every other Tuesday from 1 to 1:30pm in Bisdorf 354.  Our next meeting is 9/10/13.  Meet fellow students, volunteer in the community, and connect with NOVA faculty.  Hope to see you there!

It is never too early to plan your fall courses.  I am offering General Environmental Science I (ENV 121) on Mondays and Wednesdays from 12:30-3:10pm and Environmental Science II (ENV 122) on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:30-7:10pm.  Get your “science elective with lab” credits for your A.S. degree and learn about our natural environment.

Mon., 4/22, noon-3:30pm, Bisdorf cafeteria courtyard – Earth Day activities, prizes, and food hosted by our student Green Club

Tues., 4/23, 2-3:30pm, Bisdorf 196 – Green Town Hall 2.  Hear speakers from Alexandria’s Parks Department, take a sustainability quiz, help shape NOVA Alexandria’s sustainable future, eat yummy snacks from Whole Foods.

Thurs., 4/25, 11am-?, Bisdorf 196 – Environmental Film Festival.  Film buffs and environmentalists unite to watch and discuss the movies: No Impact Man, Food Inc., Manufactured Landscapes, and Fuel.

The student Green Club is the environmental club on campus.  Our mission is to make NOVA Alexandria a more sustainable campus, educate the public on environmental issues through activities like Earth Day, and participate in community service for the environment.  We meet every Tuesday at 3pm in Bisdorf 354.  We are always looking for new members, so join us a bring a friend!

Community college graduates make more money that students with Bachelor’s degrees.

The Alexandria campus now has a student Green Club!  This interest group is dedicated to environmental awareness, advocacy, and service.  Look for us at the Club Fair this Wed. and Thurs. (6th and 7th) in the cafeteria.  We will be giving away gift certificates to MOM’s Organic Market!

Our next meeting is Tues., 2/12 at 3pm in Bisdorf 354.  See you there!

You can transfer General Environmental Science I & II (ENV 121 & 122) to George Mason as their EVPP 110 & 111. I am offering both ENV 121 and 122 spring!

Join me at our town hall meeting for students, faculty, staff, and community members to learn about environmental, economic, and social sustainability. Munch on healthy snacks and enjoy short talks and videos about sustainability in our community. The meeting is in Bisdorf 158 from 2-4pm.
