Chordeiles Essay Contest Winners Announced
We are pleased to announce the winners of Chordeiles’ inaugural essay contest!
Students were asked to consider the following prompt:
Some scientific ideas have the potential to overturn paradigms and change the way human beings think about their world and how they operate in it–think of the discovery of DNA, plate tectonics, or Darwin’s theory of evolution and how these ideas transformed human life around the world. We live in an age of dynamic and unprecedented discovery of new knowledge, some of which is certain to dramatically change the world as we know it. What new discovery or idea do you think has transformational potential today? What positive change do you predict will happen to the world because of it?
We received a number of excellent entries and, after much discussion, Chordeiles’ Student Editorial Board chose these four as the winners.
First Place: Tsepo Natasha Watae, Suspended Animation
Second Place: Bayley Narvid, Build-A-Baby
Third Place: Subin Kim, Influence of Human-Computer Interaction on Technology
Honorable Mention: Diego Espinoza, Defining Causality: The Roots of the Next Advancements in Physics
