Annandale Lyceum Event with Edwin B. Henderson II, Feb. 12
NOVA Annandale Lyceum Committee is delighted to welcome Author Edwin B. Henderson, II, who will discuss the inception of organized athletics within the African American community. He will discuss his book, “The Grandfather of Black Basketball: The Life and Times of Dr. E. B. Henderson.” Henderson will also be available following the event to sign copies of his book.
This event will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 12, from 1 p.m. – 2 p.m., on the Annandale Campus (CA-302)
Edwin Bancroft Henderson, II, is an educator and historian with a focus on preserving African American history and culture. As the grandson of Dr. Edwin Bancroft Henderson, known as the “Grandfather of Black Basketball,” Henderson continues his family’s legacy. He is the author of “The Grandfather of Black Basketball: The Life and Times of Dr. E. B. Henderson,” which chronicles his grandfather’s role in introducing basketball to African Americans in Washington, D.C., and using sports as a platform for civil rights activism.
Henderson is an engaging speaker for Black History Month. He inspires audiences to reflect on the contributions of Black trailblazers. His commitment extends beyond honoring his family’s legacy to promoting equity, representation and cultural pride in American society.
