Bio

Professor Joyce McMillan is the Program Head of Paralegal Studies at Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA).

Professor McMillan is a graduate of George Mason University School of Law, Arlington, Virginia, and is licensed to practice in the State of Maryland. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree [magna cum laude] in Business Administration from Marymount University, Arlington, Virginia. In addition, Professor McMillan earned a Paralegal Studies degree [summa cum laude] from NOVA.

Before teaching at NOVA Professor McMillan worked in the Chief Counsel’s office at a federal law enforcement agency where she specialized in Equal Employment Opportunity and Criminal Law matters. She has worked as a legal professional for over 20 years in the public and private sectors where her job duties included hiring and supervising paralegals and legal interns.

Professor McMillan teaches all of the courses in the Paralegal Studies curriculum. She enjoys teaching and is dedicated to improving student success.

Professor McMillan enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and outdoor activities.
