In their own words – Students discuss their experiences with our festival
(film by Matthew Vargas in 2017)
NOVA Student Film Festival (NSFF) is a non-competitive film festival of short films open to all Northern Virginia Community College students from all fields of study (NOT just film students). Each year we have a special section which showcases films from partnering institutions in the US and from around the world.
NOVA Student Film Festival (NSFF) was launched in 2014, in order to give our students a screen on which they can showcase their work and get feedback from the public during the Q & A session following the screenings.
The festival that has been growing every year, screening more films made by NOVA students. It is open and welcomes students’ work from all majors and not just limited to film students.
Each year a section of the festival is dedicated to films made by students through international collaborations (FCI’s – Films Without Walls series) and/or past affiliation with NOVA (NOVA alums).
Our festival is now (2019) officially named the NOVA Student Film Festival International (NSFF – International). The festival’s international component has become a prominent feature of the films line up through its Films Without Walls series.
