The NOVA Changemakers

Welcome to The NOVA Changemakers!

The NOVA Changemakers are a group of NOVA Faculty, Staff, and Administrators who are working for change in our community. Change is not easy. Change can be disruptive. Change can make some waves in a community. Yet, some things could use a change, and change is easier to make with support!

What We Do

  • The NOVA Changemakers provide support and comraderie to others who identify as a changemaker. Primarily, we meet monthly in person, or on Zoom, for a check in and discussion of what we’re working through in our workspace, and therefore in our lives. Conversations do happen outside of the Zoom meetings, however, and we do our best to be supportive to each other, and to ourselves.
  • We are loosely organized as a book group, and each semester, we have a reading that we use as a basis of communion. In the 2022-2023 academic year, we went through the Mindful Self Compassion workbook. This year, we’re working through Ruth King‘s book Mindful of Race. The ACCP is happy to say that we have copies of this text ready to go for participants!
  • We commit to working to be the best versions of ourselves. As the ACCP is a contemplative center, we support and educate ourselves on the contemplative practices which are going to best serve what we’re working on in the moment, and we support each others search for their own personal contemplative practice.
