Credit Reports

Did you know?  AnnualCreditReport.com is the only source for free credit reports authorized by federal law.

You can request one free copy of your credit report every year from each of the three credit reporting agencies (Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion) at www.annualcreditreport.com or by calling the Annual Credit Report Service at 1-877 322-8228.

A free credit report can actually be requested every four months if you alternate between the three credit reporting agencies.

It is important to periodically check your credit report for errors, review your credit history, and ensure that someone has not illegally opened accounts in your name.  Checking your credit report helps protect you in cases of identity theft.

If you ever become a victim of identity theft you may wish to file a report with the local police, notify the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), place a fraud alert through the credit reporting agencies and freeze fraudulent accounts.
