Correction Nursing 2019 Program Admission Requirements

Correction to May 15th Post The Nursing department has provided us with their updated minimum ATI TEAS Scores.  Please subscribe to stay informed of any changes as they are reported.

The nursing department will be updating their application requirements for the 2019 application cycle.  The main change pertains to the ATI TEAS testing requirements.

NEW TEAS REQUIREMENTS

  • Students must take all 4 Sections:
    • Reading,
    • Math
    • Science
    • English
  • Student must receive a minimum
    • Total Score of 68%
    • Minimum Reading Score of 76%
  • TEAS Exam can only be taken twice in an application cycle and must ONLY be taken at NOVA MEC Testing Center

PREREQUISITE COURSE REQUIREMENTS

[Same as 2018 application requirements]

  • ENG 111 (English Composition)
  • BIO 141 (Anatomy & Physiology I)
  • BIO 142 (Anatomy & Physiology II)
  • PSY 230 (Developmental Psychology)
  • SDV 101 (Orientation to Healthcare)

HIGH SCHOOL REQUIREMENTS

[Same as 2018 application requirements]

  • “C” GRADE OR HIGHER on all courses, ” C- ” are not acceptable
  • Student must have a high school diploma or GED
  • Algebra or MTH 154 or higher
  • Biology or BIO 101
  • Chemistry or CHM 101

RN/LPN needed to care for an amazing 16 year old male with a g-tube, trach and vent at home in the Alexandria area. You will be responsible for administering medications, giving gtube feeds, checking vital signs, and protecting against illness, along with trach and vent care. He attends school and loves to communicate with his nurses. We are looking specifically for someone to work on Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday days (6:30a-5p). If you are interested in a learning opportunity, please give us a call, as we are willing to train on the vent here. The rate is $25/hr, with certain exceptions. Requirements:

Successful applicants for this position will have at least 6 months of pediatric nursing experience, including competency with g-tubes, and traches. You must have a valid Virginia or Compact state nursing license, and an up to date CPR certification.
