Local news station NBC 4 dropped by NOVA-Alexandria to speak with students and Ceramics Professor Jessica Gardner about their partnership with ALIVE! The NOVA-Alexandria fine arts department partnered with the local nonprofit organization to create unique ceramic bowls for their fundraiser event Empty Bowls Alexandria.

Although Empty Bowls Alexandria has become a successful event nationwide, it was ALIVE’s first time hosting the event. NOVA-Alexandria’s fine arts department had a goal to create 100 bowls for the event as a gift to those in attendance and to remind people of those in need right in our own region.

With many students creating several bowls each, the ceramics department was able to exceed their goal and create more pieces for themselves, friends and family. Find full news coverage of the event and the fine arts department’s partnership with ALIVE on NBC 4’s website.
