Dr. David Wineland “Quantum Computers and Schrodinger’s Cat” | Nobel Laureate in Physics 2012
The NOVA Annandale Astronomy Club is honored to announce that we will host a lecture about Quantum Computers & Schrödinger’s Cat by the Nobel Laureate in Physics 2012, Dr. David Wineland.
The lecture will be on January 29th, 5pm at the CE Forum, there will be refreshments available.
This event is free and open to the public.
The description:
The Astronomy Club from NVCC Annandale presents a lecture by Dr. David Wineland, winner of the 2012 Nobel Prize in Physics, together with the French physicist Serge Haroche. They received the award “for ground-breaking experimental methods that enable measuring and manipulation of individual quantum systems.” Based on his research, Dr. Wineland has been able to build extremely precise clocks. His research also allows us to build much faster computers.
There will be refreshments available after the lecture.

Join us for the 6th Annual NOVA SERVES: MLK Day of Service.

LOCATION: Alexandria Campus
This year’s event will consist of assembling 20,000 food kits in partnership with the Stop Hunger Now organization. We will also be accepting canned goods and gently used winter coats to help local community members in need.
Bring canned goods AND/OR a gently used winter coat and receive an official NOVA SERVES MLK t-shirt!
