BLACK HISTORY MONTH CELEBRATION

 

On February 25 more than 150 students participated in the 2014 Black History Month Celebration in Schlesinger Concert Hall. Written and directed by Dr. Mark Whitmire (AL), the event involved actors, dancers, 100 singers, jazz musicians, plus faculty members Dr. Kate Al-Shamma, Dr. Joe Windham and John Kocur, as well as Liberal Arts Dean Jimmie McClellan.

Alexandria CampusFeaturing NOVA Community Chorus with special guests Lisa Edwards Burrs, soprano; Steven Ralph, bass performing “Jazz Mass for Dr. King” by Mark Whitmire and Music by NOVA Big Band NOVA Faculty Jazz Group Dance by The Metropolitan Tap Ensemble.

Poetry and Prose read by Dr. Kate Al-Shamma and NOVA Speech and Drama Students Dr. Joe Windham (reading Langston Hughes).

No tickets are required.  A donation is requested.
