Fall 2019 Preservation Courses Announced

Join us this upcoming Fall 2019 semester for two of our most popular courses:

History 180 – Historic Archaeology, taught by Professor Bertsch.  For the first time ever, we’re offering this archaeology class at the Alexandria Campus on Tuesday nights (7:00pm to 9:40pm) to learn more about local archaeology, architectural elements and historical research methods in the classroom and on local site visits.

History 183 – Survey of Museum Practice, taught by Professor Dluger, on Wednesday nights (7:00pm to 9:40pm) at our Loudoun Campus.  You’ll study the practical details of how museums operate and their evolution from the 20th century into today’s rapidly changing world.  We’ll cover such topics as the organizational structure of a museum, exhibition design and planning, interpretation, inclusion, and collection care and management.

Each of these classes are part of our Public History and Historic Preservation Certificate program, but you do not need to be enrolled in the program to take advantage of these wonderful course offerings.  Join us on Tuesdays or Wednesdays nights (or even both nights!) as we explore the practical, hands-on approach to history and step beyond the traditional academic box.

Returning NVCC students can register now; on 1 May anyone can register.

Question? Please contact Professor Dluger, mdluger@nvcc.edu.
