  • Free Event
  • 5:15pm – 6:30pm
  • Wednesday, 23 April 2014
  • Room AA-196 | Bisdorf Building
  • NOVA-Alexandria
  • Room 196 of the Bisdorf Building

Three of our fantastic students will share their personal experiences on making it to NOVA, and what they hope to do with the next phases of their lives.
They’ll provide an overview, and there will be plenty of time for discussion.
Not one of the three students has an experience like that of the other two presenters, but our diverse college community will hear some motivating stories and perhaps gain some useful advice on following dreams. The discussion session might just offer us all a few more awesome success stories.

The Student Presenters (in alphabetical order):
– Ms. Karen Clarke-Fuchs: Overcoming Mental Illness and Addiction to Graduate
Karen Clarke-Fuhs is a psychology and addiction counseling student at Northern Virginia Community College. She is President of the Virginia Alcohol & Addiction Professionals (VAAP) Chapter at the Alexandria campus. After a long road through recovery from alcohol addiction, depression, and anxiety, Karen will graduate from NOVA in Fall 2014.

– Ms. Juwariah Shareef: Pursuing a Major of MY Choosing
Juwariah Shareef is a business major who came to the discipline even though it wasn’t her original educational goal. Juwariah has made the most of NOVA by taking a variety of courses that pointed her towards her true passion, which presented her with career goals she had not considered earlier.

– Ms. Sheila Sealy: Realizing My Destiny
Sheila Sealy has been doing what she loves for a long time, and she finally realized it. Now she is taking the steps necessary to be able to move up her this field. And NOVA is helping to make that happen.
