Great news! The Washington National Cathedral has one of the finest ornamental gardens in all of D.C., some might even the country, and they’re looking to hire a flex gardener to help maintain it! This position rotates throughout the gardens assisting zone gardeners as needed, so your days won’t always be the same. This is a full-time position, and includes winter work- so you won’t have to worry about seasonal layoffs! Flex Gardener- Protestant Episcopal Cathedral Foundation

Did you fall in love with the Bishop’s Garden at the Washington National Cathedral while on the Plant Composition Field Trip? Even if you’re not familiar with the beauty of the gardens at Washington national cathedral, you’ll still be interested in an opportunity that just opened up for a Flex Gardener. A Flex Gardener with the Protestant Episcopal Cathedral Foundation would report to the Horticulture and Grounds Director and expect to complete tasks including but not limited to maintaining ornamental plantings, recognizing and reporting pests and diseases, and following proper techniques for plant installation. The ‘flex’ in ‘flex gardener’ indicates that you float between areas of responsibility, determining the most pressing garden needs and concentrating on assisting the zone gardener to meet identified needs. This is a full-time position, with a Monday through Friday schedule, and is a year-round position to accommodate events and visitors.

Legacy Farms is a 501(c)3 non-profit with gardens on the grounds of Temple Hall Farm Regional Park and Fabbioli Cellars, just outside of  Leesburg. Our neurodiverse team of staff, mentors, and apprentices grow and deliver herbs, flowers, and vegetables to area businesses, CSA customers, and food pantries. The nonprofit offers a vocational training program for neurodivergent individuals ages 16 and up, focused on mentoring job skills, increased self-awareness, and personal development. Legacy Farms is launching a profit-focused flower business based on its two-year track record of delivering a robust floral CSA called Legacy Blooms. The objective of this floral business, over time, will be to generate revenue sufficient to self-fund the nonprofit’s vocational training programs and goals for supporting neurodiversity.
